Emperor of Thorns is the last book in The Broken Empire trilogy. I completely agree with the little phrase on the title: "All reigns must end...". Following the trend of the other two books, this book is split into two different sections: present and past. While the present story line builds up to a battle at the capitol, the past story line helps to provide an understanding as to why present events are happening. Like always, I enjoy the writing style of Mark Lawrence because it allows me to try to piece together the events and predict what happens without just flat out giving it to me. I believe everyone should attempt to read the series as it can expose them to a new style of writing. Similar to Game of Thrones, you must persevere through the first book as it is challenging to initially understand everything that is happening. Good luck and happy reading!
